Cabinet Cleanup

Tech organization is essential no matter the project. 75% of the useable space within this cabinet was regained just by condensing devices and managing cables.

The initial purpose of this client visit was to install new network and TV equipment; however, that’s no easy feat when there are wires everywhere. This is when organization becomes a priority. Organizing devices and wires not only saves on space, but also helps to keep everything running smoothly by preventing dust build-up and overheating.

The primary tool that anyone needs to accomplish this type of job is patience. It’s best to unplug and label all devices and wires—this way we are starting with a blank canvas. In this case, some devices were outdated and therefore removed altogether. Next, we determine how and where we want to run our wires. Once in place, take any unneeded slack out of the wires by wrapping them with velcro or twist ties. Now we can start to put the devices back. We just need to be sure we space them all out appropriately, taking extra care to not block any air flow vents.

We’re done!

Thanks to some velcro ties, as well as the tech expertise to know which devices could be discarded, this cabinet was transformed back into a place for home storage.
